People usually get confused when studying numbers. Something which you should know about numbers is that when we use commas (vírgulas) they use points (pontos) and vice-versa. So, in Portuguese, we write $1.000,00 (one thousand dollars), as long as, in English, we have to invert the signs: $1,000.00.
